Responsibilities
- Develop and implement buying strategies to ensure a diverse range of fresh produce, meats, groceries, and deli items are consistently available for customers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local growers, suppliers, and wholesalers to secure the best quality goods at competitive prices.
- Monitor stock levels to anticipate demand, minimising wastage and ensuring shelves are well-stocked at all times.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and supply agreements to maximise value and support the business’s bottom line.
- Analyse sales trends and customer preferences to inform future purchasing decisions and identify new products.
- Collaborate closely with store managers and department heads to align buying activities with business needs.
- Ensure all products meet the company’s quality standards and comply with relevant food safety regulations.
- Review and approve supplier invoices, resolve discrepancies, and manage returns or credits as required.
- Participate in regular supplier reviews to assess performance and explore opportunities for new partnerships.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activity.
- Prepare and maintain accurate purchasing records and reports for management review.
- Support promotional campaigns by sourcing featured products and negotiating special deals.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across buying processes and supply chain operations.
- Respond promptly to urgent supply issues to minimise disruption to store operations.
- Represent Biviano & Sons with professionalism, upholding the company’s values and reputation in every supplier interaction.

Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Retail Buyer or similar procurement role, ideally within the food or grocery sector.
- Solid understanding of inventory management, supply chain processes and category assortment.
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of building positive supplier relationships.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends.
- Sound knowledge of Australian food safety regulations and quality standards.
- Exceptional organisational and time management abilities, with keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using retail management and purchasing software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams.
- Full Australian working rights (citizenship, permanent residency, or relevant visa).
